Hands on Thai Favorites

with Jeremy Niehuss

 

 

Jeremy's back! (He's managed to carve out some time in his very busy schedule....)

 

We can all agree, Thai food is great, but it has a mystique that can be difficult to demystify.   Imagine if you could learn the secrets of Thai cooking allowing you to cook your favorite Thai dishes in your own home.  Come join us at In Good Taste for a Thai cooking class and master the recipes of your favorite Thai dishes.  Through this class students will discover the use of the flavor sensations hot, sour, salty, sweet and bitter, and how to balance those sensations and flavors in perfect harmony to create the lively, yet delicate flavors of these delicious Thai dishes.  Also the students will have the opportunity to enjoy a short demonstration on homemade shiracha, making curry paste and cracking coconut cream for frying the curry paste.  The class will also include a short primer on Thai product identification which will discuss such ingredients as fish sauce, palm sugar, Kaffir lime leaves, Thai chilies, coriander, Thai basil and coconut milk.  You will also learn the secrets of how to shop for these products.

Luscious prawn and galangal soup with coconut milk, fall foraged mushrooms and kaffir

Crying tiger grilled beef salad - Fiery grilled sirloin over rice noodles with an assortment of  vegetables, fresh herbs and lettuces with a sour, salty and sweet dressing

 

Mussamun curry with simmered with chicken, purple potatoes, sweet potatoes, pearl onions and carrots

 

Pat Thai - Traditional Thai noodle dish with tofu, chicken, prawns, egg, scallions and peanuts

 

Perfect steamed Jasmine rice

 

Fried banana fritters with caramel and coconut ice cream
