An Enchanted Indian Evening with Julie Sahni, author "Classic Indian Cooking"
Enjoy a fun, informal Indian dinner party with your friends and family. If you've taken the previous India class, this will be the culmination of the things you've learned and the skills you've acquired. If this is your first, you'll get a great introduction to Indian cuisine, plus pick up new techniques and valuable tips. In the class, Julie will use a high quality of fenugreek from the Royal state of Rajasthan that she recently bought back from India. You will receive a gift of this along with Julie's own special curry powder.
"There is no better introduction to cooking Indian food than the seminal books of Julie Sahni, Classic Indian Cooking and Classic Indian Vegetarian and Grain Cooking (both from William Morrow). Sahni is a teacher at heart and in her books she guides the reader easily through the basics of the cuisine, as well as in-depth analyses of the ingredients, cooking methods, and implements that are unique to the cooking of India. The beautiful and erudite Ms. Sahni, a former dancer and city planner, was born and raised in India where, like for so many families there, food was central to the life of the home. When she decided to write cookbooks, she returned to the food she knew so well from her upbringing, all the while reexamining it and adding to her knowledge through trips back and forth to India and tireless research. Her palate is so keen, and her enthusiasm so infectious, that she is routinely invited to lecture on the science of tasting and, of course, to teach the intricacies of Indian food. These two books are must-haves for any serious culinary cookbook collection, Indian or otherwise". James Mellgren Gourmet Retailer Magazine
