Favorites from Nostrana with Cathy Whims

Cathy Whims has been serving classic Italian fare to Portland diners for
years, and she is dedicated to marrying Italian culinary tradition with
the fresh and local foods of the Northwest. Her newest restaurant
venture, Nostrana, was named Restaurant of the Year by the Oregonian.
Previously, under Cathy's guidance as Executive Chef and co-owner, Genoa
gained national recognition.
Nostrana features potato gnocchi every Thursday for lunch and dinner, as
is the custom in Rome. Don’t miss this rare chance to learn how to make
perfectly fluffy homemade gnocchi and a variety of accompanying sauces.
This
class will feature Gene Thiel of Prairie Creek Farm in Joseph, Oregon
who supplies fabulous organic potatoes to Portland's best restaurants
and represented Slow Food Portland at the Terra Madre convention at the
Slow Food Salone in Torino in 2004.
